Opening Keynote Address with Adm. Thad Allen
Admiral Thad Allen, USCG (Ret.) will present the opening keynote at Offshore Communications 2011. Last year, Adm. Allen was appointed by President Obama to serve as the National Incident Commander (NIC) for the unified response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, a position he held concurrently while finishing his tenure as the Commandant of the Coast Guard. In 2005, Adm. Allen was designated the principal federal office (PFO) for Hurricane Katrina and Rita responses and recovery operations throughout the Gulf region.
Titled “The Power of Communications,” Adm. Allen will focus on what he’s learned during his service with the United States Coast Guard, and as our nation’s go-to leader when disasters strike. Adm. Allen will share his insights on what communications systems the offshore oil and gas industry must have and offer suggestions as to how the communications service providers, rig owners, operators and government emergency response teams can better communicate. Following his Keynote, Adm. Allen will accept questions from the audience.
The Offshore Communications Conference will focus on application-based solutions, the challenges currently faced by the IT professionals, CTOs, network engineers and integrators responsible for procuring and implementing communications systems in an offshore and/or remote environment.
The goal of the conference is to present solutions to the end-user, regardless of the technology behind the solution - satellite, wireless, fiber, etc., while also addressing the challenges that come with implementing and operating any communications network - interoperability, security, cost containment, scalability - whether in the Gulf of Mexico or international waters.
Included with your Conference registration is access to the nightly receptions on Tuesday, November 8 and Wednesday, November 9. You’ll join more than 900 fellow colleagues in the oil and gas community to share success stories, proven strategies and insider tips while enjoying good food and drink.
