As the demands for global connectivity continue to push into new regions for many of the multinational E&P operators and drilling companies, communication regulatory barriers can present huge obstacles if not properly planned and executed. Attempting to license communication services in some countries requires a great deal of due diligence to identify what options and barriers exist. This panel will identify key steps required in overcoming obstacles that are typically present in many challenging regions. Some of these challenges addressed are local tax structure, legal entity requirements, FCPA issues vs. cultural expectations, and reasonable cost expectations. Real-life examples of how to mitigate risk, manage costs, and meet customer requirements will be discussed.
