The increasing in-country presence by major oil and gas companies in underserved and remote locations brings with it an added interest in local welfare. More organizations are setting aside resources for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Non-government organizations have earmarked funds to provide community outreach. Developing Countries are subsidising Universal Service Funds to provide network rollouts in underserved areas. Multi-lateral funding agencies also have capital available to organizations that propose worthy projects. How can the offshore communications sector draw upon the resources available to leave a positive and sustainable footprint on local grounds?
